The Lake Tapps Pilates studio is the premier movement studio in Lake Tapps and Bonney Lake. Offering private and small group instruction in both mat and equipment Pilates to enhance whole body performance and promote well being. We teach classical Pilates and are PMA certified.
Our beautiful, light filled studio will inspire both the novice and the experienced Pilates student. We are dedicated to establishing realistic and attainable goals based on your fitness level.

The Pilates method was developed by legendary German athlete and physical rehabilitation trainer, Joseph Pilates in the 1920's. It is a powerful form of exercise and movement education that offers clients increased flexibility and function, improved body-mind awareness, core strength and enhanced breathing and balance. The Pilates method contains more than 300 specifically designed exercises for full body conditioning. After one lesson, most find they are so eager for more.

Jyl Horne Thompson
Jyl was classically trained in ballet. During her 15 year ballet career, she performed at the Kennedy Center, Constitutional Hall, other DC theaters and finally at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow with the Asaph Dance Ensemble from 1987-2000, 2003, and 2008. Jyl began studying Pilates and was certified in mat Pilates in 2004. Desiring more education, she began training with and was mentored by Kris Shellum at the Pilates Studio of Gainesville, Virginia in 2006.
Jyl was comprehensively certified in 2009 to teach Pilates studying with Dilla Mastrangelo of Harmony Pilates Studio (extension of Core Dynamics Pilates founded by Eve Gentry and Michele Larsson). Jyl completed 360 Pilates with Benjamin Degenhardt in 2017. In 2019, Jyl completed her Heritage Training with Cara Reeser .
Jyl teaches private, duet, and small group equipment Pilates sessions utilizing reformers with towers, stability chair, ladder barrel, orbit, and small props as well as mat Pilates classes. Her lifelong study of movement enables her to tailor her lessons to the body being taught. This produces a lesson that is challenging, empowering, and encouraging so the client can truly make the Pilates method their own. Jyl has taught clients from age 13 to 81. She has taught the athlete and the non-athlete. She enjoys the amazing changes that Pilates brings to all her clients. They inspire her as much as she inspires them.
